Volkswagen to Launch First Generation of Connected Services in Selected Model Year 2014 Vehicles

 As many of you may have heard, Volkswagen will be launching our first generation of Connected Services in selected Model Year 2014 vehicles. Volkswagen has partnered with Verizon Telematics (previously Hughes Telematics), Inc., to provide our customers with features and services supported by live operators, an expansion of the VW Owners Website (Owners Portal) and a Mobile App for Apple and Android based phones. Car-Net will provide our customers with remote access to their vehicle from an integrated mobile app, and innovative services such as Boundary Alerts to ensure their loved ones are safe. Car-Net enhances Volkswagen’s competitive positioning in the market place and fulfills customer needs for Safety and Convenience based services.
Overall, VW Car-Net will drive a deeper customer connection with their vehicle and their dealership. Car-Net will provide safety features to help customers in need, provide easy access to diagnostic information when away from their vehicles, and drive repeat service business to each of your stores through:
  • Providing customer remote access to certain features in their vehicles (Remote door unlock, determining fuel levels, status of doors, lights, trunk and more)
  • Dealer Service Offer (coupon) integration on Vehicle Health Reports to help customers understand when they need service, provide them the relevant offer to assist with that service, and quick access to their preferred dealer to consistently remind them of the best place to receive VW service
  • Now that they have the information necessary, customers also have easy access to schedule a service appointment with their preferred dealer through a live operator simply by pushing a button in the vehicle or on their app
  • An integrated customer connection to their preferred dealer through the Owners Portal, Mobile App and Live Operator
  • And more
The benefit of Car-Net begins with a simple “i-Button” press by the sales associate resulting in a customer enrollment during the vehicle delivery process. This ensures a customer’s direct link to your dealership throughout the subscribed interaction with Car-Net.
The launch of Car-Net marks the beginning of Volkswagen’s Connected Services. The future evolution of Car-Net will focus on providing customers and dealers with the types of product offerings to improve CRM and driver centric content.
